Azula woke with a start she rubbed her eyes and felt a scratch on her face she looked at her hands and she screamed into her pillow they had turned into tiger paws suddenly she felt her surprise disappear she had a feeling that this had something to do with the important thing that was meant to happen today, a vision of a small clearing flashed into her mind she jumped out the window and raced into the jungle until she came to the clearing she heard a rustling coming from the other side of the bush she jumped over the bush an old tiger stood on the other side “Zala” the old tiger said anxiously “no my name is Azula “she said ‘but in my dream I heard a large female tiger call me Zala so I guess that is my name” she said “yes that is your name and you are my daughter” exclaimed the old tiger hugging her, “Where is my mother “Zala asked “I do not know” the old tiger sighed ‘but for now let us enjoy Christmas together”. ………………….TO BE CONTINUED…………………… By Anna

On the 7th September was cross-country at Rawhitiroa. I was in the 12 and 13 year-olds, I had to run 2300m which is three laps. My group was sixth just after Paul’s group. I watched hayley, max and Sam run. When Paul was just starting his third lap my group started I ran then walked then ran and continued like that till the end I came tied second to last with two other girl. After that I watch Reuben, Rachel Hannah, Steven, Owen and Mathew run there races. Hannah came 10th, Reuben cam 15th, Mathew came 16th, Rachel came 13th, Steven came 11th and Owen came near the end.

In the second week of the holidays mum, Rachel and I went to see my granddad and grandma near Turangi. The best part of my holiday was playing a game of mini golf at the tree trunk café with Steven and Paul in Turangi. It was funny when Steven hit his ball back up the pipe and then it got stuck and I had to push it with my golf club up the pipe to get it out. Then we went out for something to eat and drink at thyme for food. Next holidays I would like to go up mount Ruapehu skiing and go to happy valley and rock garden, I would also like to go to Auckland to see my cousins and go ice skating. By Anna In the weekend on Saturday was the Whangamomona pig hunt at the camp ground. Dad, Mum, Blair, Rachel and I went to the pig hunt. Rachel entered in the heaviest possum and the goat head contest, I only entered a goat head. I saw Hannah, Sarah, Megan and Megan’s friend McKenzie at the pig hunt. Steven and Owen got there late. When it was time for the spot prize giving dad and Blair both got hats, but our friend Ross’s son won the dog kennel but gave it to us because they didn’t need it so we got it for Brock our pig hunting dog.

Once apon a time the days were very short because the sun “Te Ra” moved quickly across the sky. So quickly that the men had no time to dig there gardens, hunt or fish, the children had no time to play after their chores and the woman no time to cook or weave. Every one started to complain about how no work could get done. A young man named Maui took no notice until one day Maui said to his wife “ wife I am hungry get me some food” so Maui’s wife got her cooking stones out but before they were hot the sun had gone down and it was night. Maui was very angry because he didn’t know what he was eating.


Maui called his fours brothers and told them he them wanted to slow down the sun “Te Ra” his brothers were very scared but agreed to help him what do we do first they asked first we must cut and weave some flax into nooses. While they were weaving Maui chanted a Kakaria to make the noose strong, when at last the rope was ready Maui and his brothers started towards the pit where the sun emerges.

When they finally reached the sun hat it was just beginning night so Maui said, “We shall build a clay wall around the pit to create sun shelters so we do not get burnt. So the brothers worked and worked when at last they were finished the sun was just starting to come up. Go to your positions and don’t throw your nooses until I say, Maui ordered. So Maui’s brothers did as they were asked, Maui stood in front of the pit and chanted “Make the noose strong, make the noose tight, not fire not heat should render it”. Give my weapons strength, give my weapons might, not fire nor heat shall render me”. The sun had started to emerge only when Maui could see his white teeth did he yell, “Throw the nooses”, his brothers did as he asked and threw the nooses. Then Maui jumped up and began to pound the sun with his magic weapon. “Stop please stop”, cried the sun in pain but only when the sun began to weaken did Maui let his brothers loosen the nooses.

The sun began to rise slowly into the sky because going fast hurt him to much.
And that is how Maui slowed the sun and why the days are so long. Because the sun hurts so much it can’t go fast, and also I think because the sun is scared Maui is still around and will beat him if he goes to fast.

Inglewood High School Makeover

On the 15Th October Paul, Steven, Owen and I went to Inglewood high school to help them with an enviro makeover.The first thing we had to do was to do our skit in front of every one Owen made a mistake he said peas garden instead of peace garden. We got to do 3 things to help with the makeover the first things we did was learn about water testing, we learnt how to see if water was polluted or not. Then we went to the presentation area outside, we got to work on a computer for that the kids at Inglewood high wanted to change it into a peace garden so we got to design the peace garden. the last thing we did was plant harakeke or flax we had to work out in the rain I looked like a drowned rat, then at the end we got a spare harakeke.

Life On A Space Station

Hi I’m Eliza Genniken, I’m 12 years-old and I live in the weirdest place. I live on a space station with my mum, dad, my 2 sisters and my brother and my pet. I’m going to tell you what life is like to live on a space station in 2040. First thing is there no gravity so every thing either has to be bolted or velcroed into place. And when we sit down to eat or to sleep we have to be strapped into bed or into our seat because if you don’t you start floating around. When on a space station if you want a shower you have a tube around the shower so none of the water can escape, also you can’t have a real live pet up there because they would die so the next best option is either a computer pet or robot pet. By the way I don’t have either of those things I have a pet monkey called Comet. He’s really loyal and he’s my best friend. Sometimes he even helps me with my homework because when I was traing to live on a space station he was to. He was sent to school with me to learn to read and write. When we are almost out of food Mum or Dad call mission control and if we want anything brought up on the next shuttle we have to call mission control on our own personal computer. By the way Comet and I still have to do school lessons but we do them by hologram since we can’t get a school teacher to live on the space station with us. Now then lets have a tour of me and comets room, we have a TV and playstation3, 2 kings size beds plus we don’t have to clean our room we have robot maids to do it. That’s about all I can tell you about life on a space station unless you come and visit me, see you in the future.

At school this week I have been reading a book called prohibited. It is about things like ivory trading and whaling. I thought that people who hunted elephants and whales were cruel because the whales and elephants they are hunting were endangered. I was asked to do make up punishments for poachers.

I like the colorful birds when they fly

The snowy mountains reaching for the sky,

I like the sounds of the leaves rustling in the bush

When the sleepy little kiwi give a surprise ambush,

I like to climb the tallest of native trees

I like to see little lambs growing over time

I like to go to the sparkling sea

While the white foam washes over me

I like to see the little calves playing merrily

I like to see the little Joey possums watching over me.

But most of all I love to sit

And read a book under the star lit sky.

My Chickens

In the holidays we were shearing. We shore for a whole day; I had to rousy all day. The rousy has to sort the wool out after the sheep has been shorn. Jed, John, Elizabeth, Blair and Shaun were there helping shear. Mum, Rachel and Max made the food. Jed liked the play station 2. He played on it almost all day. After afternoon tea Jed, Max, Rachel and I went up the hill to find a hut. We found one then went back to the Woolshed. Jed’s mum was worried because we had been away an hour. The day ended and we had shorn at least 800 sheep.

The GoKart War

One cold evening Megan, Perry, McKenzie and I went out on the fast, red, bumpy go-kart. Perry jumped off and started to throw cold, slimy mud at us McKenzie and I jumped off for our own ammo. Then Perry jumped out the go-kart McKenzie and I were so scared that we yelled at the top of our lungs. The parents wondering what had happened ran outside. We sure did get a scolding for that. I was freezing but the war continued until bed time that is that meant the war was super doper messy. The go-kart was soon brown instead of racy red and instead of clean we were as dirty as a hippo. By the time I was in my nice fluffy warm blankets I was aching. Even though Perry had won the battle we had won the war.

The Targa Rally

On the 24th of October I went to the Targa Rally in Whanga. First I was on raffles. There was also whip cracking, pancakes and boarder patrol. But my favorite was pancake duty because I got to eat some of the pancakes. On boarder patrol we got lots of free things, including getting wet. By the way the Targa rally is a rally when race cars come through and get timed.

Last week the school and I went up mount Ruapehu it was it great fun we skied and skied till we couldn't’t ski any more. The next day I skied down the big slope but crashed twice ow. Then it was time to start home No!!!!

This is a picture of some weaving we did we call it Harakeke. We did bracelets and baskets. They are made from flax. The steps were easy and hard. Well that’s all for now.

Beach Education

On Wednesday 14th of February we went to the awesome beach at Fitzroy. We learnt about rips and waves and how not to get sucked into them. We watched DVD’s about how to protect ourselves from the burning sun. Then we played seaweed, a very tricky a game where you have to run through and try not to get caught. I caught three big waves that took me up to the beach. One was at the start one was in the middle and the other was at the end.

Jones Cup

On monday was jones cup .We lost most of our games my mum was late she got there at 12:00.

Blairs Birthday

Today is my big brothers birthday - he is 13. He got a duck shooting licence and I made him a cake. Here it is!
I played hockey today and we lost by 2 goals.

Australia

On the 25th of April we went to Australia for a school trip we went to Moive world Wet and Wild and Sea world. We went on the new planes with t.v's in the back of the seats.

AUSTRALIA!

In 3 days time I go to Australia for my school trip. We are going to the Gold Coast. We are going to seaWorld, Movie World and Wet and wild world. We have to get to the airport at 5.30am and we will be away for 7 days. Mum and Dad are not coming.

I am sick!

Last night I was sick lots so I had today off school. I hope I feel better tomorrow because I want to go to school. Wisp came inside (shes not allowed any more) and snuggled with me on the chair. The rabbits came inside for a while too.

old bunny - new bunny

Yeterday I was playing in the tree. I saw my sisters old bunny hopping along and I caught him. We think he was a bit scared after being out for a week. he fights with the new bunnies so he has to have a cage on his own. I looked after him today when Mum took Blair to town to play rugby - they lost by heaps of points. I think the old bunny is getting happier now.

Rabbits

Yesterday we went to town to get some new bunnies. My old bunny named Caramello had escaped. He was a Lop rabbit and he was brown. My new rabbit is called Timber and he is white with black ears, a black nose and a black tail. I don't know if he is a boy or a girl. It is a Satin Rex rabbit and very very soft!

A Picnic

Today we had a picnic for the Diabetes kids in Taranaki. My friend Shayleigh came. We had an Easter Egg hunt and a gumboot throwing contest. It was fun.

Wisp

Wisp is our puppy. She is black and white with a hairy chin. We got her from Reuben and Sam. I went to their house yesterday for tea. We had chicken nuggets and chips.

I the weekends

In the the weekend I went to Megan Collins house. We tried running away from Perry, he is Megans brother. The next day I went in the bush, there was three lots of cutty grass .

My name is Anna and I go to Marco School. I am 9 years old. I like swimming and reading I have two sisters and one brother.
